Long time, no makeup post. So remember way back when, when I used to sometimes, every so often do a makeup post? No? It’s been so long, it’s okay, I forgive you. I think the last time I even did a makeup relates post was back during Christmas time when the Holiday LE sets were being released. But those I believe were lip gloss and eye liner swatches and reviews.. not eye-of-the-day posts like I used to do. There’s two reasons for this. One, my lighting living here in San Diego isn’t as good as it was when I lived in LA. I had this really nice creme canvas curtain in my room in LA that was awesome for soft day lighting and here, no such thing exists. Hence, I feel like my makeup pictures don’t turn out so great with my less than ideal lighting situation. But I guess I can try to make the best of the situation. Numero dos, My old school 2005 Canon Power Shot A610 with the flip screen that allowed me to take better face pictures stopped working about a year and a half ago. Months ago, I randomly turned it on one day to find that it had come back from it’s sad, tragic death and it’s still got some life in it. So I much prefer taking makeup shots with that camera to taking them with my new Power Shot. So as long as that old think keeps kicking, I guess I’ll try to get back into the habit of doing makeup posts.
Enough with the rambling… I bet none of you even read that. So on to the pictures.


It’s been so long since I wrote a makeup post, I’m a little rusty. Anyways, This is Bare Escentuals Tan Lines on the inner eye, Bare Escentuals Here Kitty on the outter eye and blended into the crease as well as used wet as a liner along the lower lash line. Other products used include: Bare Escenutals Prime Time eye lid primer, Smashbox pencil eye liner in Black, Maybelline The Falsies waterproof mascara in Very Black and Bare Escentuals eye brow powder in Dark Blonde/Medium Brown. It’s a hot day here in So Cal and hot weather puts me in the mood for shimmery, glittery, gold eyeshadow! This is Bare Escentuals Kiko on the inner eye, Bare Escentuals Fantasy on the outer eye and blended into the crease, and Bare Escentuals Brave used as an under brow highlighter and dusted over the entire lid for shimmer. You can’t see it very well in pictures but Brave is an iridescent white with the most outrageous, gorgeous rainbow shimmer. It sparkles like crazy in the sunlight and I think it might jsut be my all time favorite Bare Escentuals eye shadow ever. All three shadows were purchased form the Bare Escentuals outlet. Also worn here were Revlon ColorStay eyeliner in black and Bare Escentauls Flawless Definition Volumizing Mascara in black.

Today I am sharing with you an eye of the day look with a couple of Bare Escentuals eye shadows I got from the outlet boutique. I just have to say.. the BE boutique is like, the best store ever. Not only do they have all these amazing eye shadows, lip glosses, blushes, body shimmers, brushes, kits, etc.that they don’t sell in normal BE boutiques but they sell them at the boutique for super cheap! The eye shadows at the boutique are one shadow for $6.50 as opposed to $13 at a normal boutique. Talk about winner winner chicken dinner!! Anyways, these two shadows, Gilded Quartz and Foliage, are two of my favorite shadows that I’ve scored at the BE outlet. For this look I used BE Gilded Quartz on the inner eye, Foliage on the outer eye and blended into the crease, BE Camp blended into the crease, and BE Celestine under the brow as a highlighter. Also used was BE brow powder in Dark Blonde/Medium Brown, Revlon ColorStay eyeliner in black, and BE Flawless Definition Volumizing mascara in black. I. Love. This. Look. As far as I know, the BE outlet boutique I go to in Carlsbad, CA is the only BE outlet boutique on the west coats but if you’re lucky enough to live close to one I suggest you go check it out, you wont be disappointed!!

I completely adore the look of smokey eyes but since I have light skin and eyes and dark hair, it’s really hard for me to pull off the typical dark grey and black shadow smokey look. I’ve learned to tweak the colors I use in order to find a dark smokey eyed look that works for my complexion and  features. Instead of using dark grey and black shadows to obtain a smokey eyed look, I’ve found that my perfect and favorite smokey eyed look on myself is obtained when using smokey purple shadows. This eye of the day look is my all time and most worn smokey shadow look. On the inner eye I used Bare Escentuals Drama, on the outer eye and in the crease I used Bare Escentuals 1990′s, and under the brow as a highlighter I used bare Escentuals Celestine. If you’re looking for a smokey eyed look that’s not so stark and difficult to pull off, smokey purples like these work great and can be worn for a day time look as well, without looking too dramatic.

Earlier this week when I posted one of my eye of the day looks someone requested for me to do an eye shadow blending tutorial. Here it is, from start to finish!

First I fill in my eyebrows with Bare Escentuals Dark Blonde/Medium Brown powder with the Bare Escentuals Brow brush. I then curl my lashes with the Bare Escentuals Eye Lash Curler. Then I line my inner eye tear ducts, top and bottom, with Revlon ColorStay eye liner in black.

Next, I put BE Prime Time eyelid primer on my eyelids. This primer used to only come is a nude creme but just this Spring they redid the packaging and came out with two new “brightening” Prime Time eyelid primers in addition to the original nude creme Prime Time eyelid Primer. The two “brightening” eyelid primers come in a silver pearl sheen and a golden sheen, the one pictured here is the latter.

Then I start with the BE Full Tapered Shadow brush and add my lighter shadow color to my inner eye.

I start from the tear duct and go about to the half way point of the lid. I also make sure to go high enough on the lid so that the shadow is obviously visible even with my eyes open.

Then I use my BE Crease Defining brush to apply my darker colored eye shadow to the outer part of the lids and in the crease.

In little circular motions, I add the darker shadow to the outer eye. I also lightly drag the brush into the crease of the eye to blend into the lighter shadow and give the crease more of an accent.

I then again take the BE Full Tapered Shadow brush, dipped in the darker shadow, and apply it to the outer eye on the lower part of the lid only. The reason for this is to apply the shadow more densely to the lid so that the color is darker, more vibrant, and more dramatic.

Next, I swipe the BE Crease Defining brush in circular motions on the palm of my hand to get all the dark shadow out of the brush so that I can use it for my under brow highlighter (I don’t want dark shadow under my brows making me look like I got beat up!). I then dip the BE Crease Defining brush in a light shadow that I was to use for my under eyebrow highlighter and swipe it under the brows, blending it into my lid shadows.

I also put a little but of the highlighter shadow on the inner corner of my eye to give my eyes a bit of a brightened of appearance.

The I add two coats of Bare Escentuals Flawless Definition Volumizing Mascara in black to my top lashes and one coat to the bottom lashes… and here’s the finished product!
Beautiful blended eyeshadow ! If you have similar looking brushes they should work about the same. If you don’t have any good eye shadow brushes, I would highly recommend these. I never knew a good brush from a bad brush until I discovered how amazing some of BE’s brushes are. These tow, I highly recommend!

Hey all! Today I’m sharing with you  my eye look of the day. This is Bare Escentuals Enlightened on the inner eye, Bare Escentuals Ginger Peach Smoothie on the outer eye, and Bare Escentuals Celestine under the brow as a highlighter. Celestine is in the core BE line at all boutiques, Ginger Peach Smoothie was purchased from the BE outlet, and Enlightened is also sold at BE boutiques, but for limited time only as a part of the BE Cares Collection to help support  and donate to the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS). I love the BE Cares line, all the colors are super gorgeous and all go for a good cause.. plus almost all of them are LE so you gotta get them while you can!

I decided to play around with blending myself since I liked the blended look that my friend Amanda did on me a few days ago. I like to wear extreme, bright, vibrant eye shadow sometimes for fun but I usually just wear it wet as an under eye eyeliner because I’m not very good at blending stark colors as a whole eyelid look to make them look good. Good thing Amanda made me realize that I already own a good blending brush (the one she used on my previous eye of the day look) and that I just need to use it for it’s purpose… for eye lid color blending, not as a under eye highlighter *face palm*. Anyways, this is my first own blending attempt since learning how to do it properly. I used Urban Decay Asphyxia on the inner eye, Bare Escentuals Beach Goddess on the outer eye, Jesse’s Girl Earthtone in the crease, and Bare Escentuals Vanilla Sugar under the brows as a highlighter. Also used was Bare Escentuals Brow Colo in Dark Blonde/Medium Brown, Revlon ColorStay eyeliner in Back, and Bare Escentuals Flawless Definition Volumizing Mascara in Black.
