And as a side note, my best friend got my the absolute coolest gift ever. She gave me a jar (a Goober jar haha) filled with sea glass picked off the sandy beaches of Okinawa. I. am. obsessed. with. sea glass. Like no joke. And I cried when she gave it to me. Cool story huh?
Look familiar? A few weeks back when I was shopping I found this polish in a store for $2 and snatched it up. Looks pretty similar to Deborah Lippmann Ruby Red Slippers and Wet n Wild Behind Closed Doors doesn’t it? For two bucks, I like it. The end result of two layers of Dorothy over Wet n Wild Black Creme looks pretty damn close to RRS. Dorothy’s base is much more sheer though. Both Behind Closed Doors and Ruby Red Slippers could be worn with out a base and achieve opaqueness (though if my memory serves me correct, the black base of Behind Closed Doors is more sheer and still looks best when layered over a black creme) where as Doroty is super, super sheer. Wearing it over a black base is a must. Between this and Ruby Red Slippers, I still prefer the latter though if you’re not willing to shell out $18 for the original and are able to find Dorothy, it’s a nice look a like.
This month the OPI Nicki Minaj Collection finally hits shelves! Hip hop hooray! The collection consists of six polishes: three cremes, two glitters, and a shatter. Without further adieu.. Pink Friday. A bright, yet soft bubble gum pink creme. There’s tons of bubble gum pink cremes out there but this one in my opinion is the best. It’s not original by any means, but I like it the best out of the pastel pink cremes I own. This is three coats.Super Bass Shatter over Pink Friday. Super Bass Shatter is a medium-dark amethyst purple shimmer shatter. I like it but to be honest I’m kinda already over the whole shatter/crackle thing.
Did It On ‘Em. A bright yellow-lime-green creme. It’s so brihgt that it’s almost neon, but not quite. I really like this color a lot and I have nothing else like it in my collection. This was three coats.Super Bass Shatter over Did It On ‘Em.
Fly. This did not photograph correctly. It’s a few shades darker and more turquoise in real life. It’s not super turquoise… I’d still consider it a blue… but it’s definitely not the Smurf blue it appears to be in these pictures. This was three coats.Super Bass Shatter over Fly.
Metallic 4 Life. A black jelly loaded with small square and medium & large hex silver glitter. I feel like the whole black base, silver glitter thing has been way overdone, but this one is different. Most black base, silver glitter polishes has one size of glitter and in most cases that glitter is small. This has different sizes of glitter and the glitter is really obvious and in your face, which is not usually the case with the others. This looks to me like a silver version of Deborah Lippmann Ruby Red Slippers. This was two coats.Super Bass Shatter over Metallic 4 Life.
Save Me. A clear base filled with small silver glitter and silver and blue holo bar glitter. Huge props to OPI for stepping way, way out of the box on this one. This is a first for them with using bar glitter. Most people either love it or hate it… and I love it. I’m not particularly find of this polish.. probably just cause I don’t like the blue and the silver together… but I’m very happy that OPI has really upped their game and given polish lovers more of what we want, and less of the boring pink and red cremes that we used to get from them. This is three coats.Super Bass Shatter over Save Me.
Overall, I really like this collection. It has Nicki Minaj written all over it.
And oh, I just cant help myself… :0)

Today I’m sharing with you a swatch comparing Deborah Lippmann Superstar with Wet n Wild Cougar Attack. Superstar (one coat) is on my pointer and ring finger and Cougar attack is on my middle finger (two coats) and pinkie finger (one coat). The first obvious difference is the opaqueness. Superstar is clealy way more dense than Cougar Attack. It takes two thick coats to (almsot) do what Superstar does in one. Next, the base color between the two is a bit different. Superstar has a darker and more chocolate brown base while Cougar Attack has a slightly lighter base and a hint more orange tint to it. The glitter in the two is also quite different as well. Firstly, there is way more glitter in Superstar giving the end result a much more glitter dense look. The glitter in Superstar is also square where as the glitter in Cougar Attack is hex shaped.. though the size of the glitter in each polish seems about the same. Also, the glitter in Superstar appears a brighter orange-copper than the glitter in Cougar Attack.
The verdict? Clearly these two look very similar side by side and a muggle probably wouldn’t be able to tell the difference very easily. However, I can see there there are very obvious difference and even though I think Cougar Attack is a beauty and a winner for the price (2 bucks!), Superstar takes the cake. The glitter is brighter, sparklier and I like the darker base color… it feels more autumn like.
Happy hump day! Today I am sharing with you the gorgeous Deborah Lippmann Superstar. It’s a dark chocolate brown jelly base that is freakin loaded with sparkly orange-copper glitter. Loaded I tell you. This was one coat. Can you believe it?! One coat. That’s how awesome this polish it. I think I’m in love. I’ve been in the mood to wear earth tones and autumn colors for the past week or so and this polish definitely takes the cake and fills that lemming. You have to view these pics full size, the smaller version just does not do this polish justice. Superstar indeed.
Happy Birthday to me! My birthday mani this year is OPI Bubble Bath topped with Deborah Lippmann Happy Birthday, topped with another coat of Bubble Bath. For my birthday, I’ll be away in Catalina and won’t be able to post or respond to comments or emails for the rest of the weekend but rest assured I’ll be back on Monday. Have a fabulous weekend!
Hey, everyone! Sorry for the late post. This morning I met up with a bunch of girls form the MUA Nail Board downtown in China Town to grab some dim sum for lunch. Since I was meeting with a bunch of nail polish girls I wanted to make sure that my nails looked extra nice today :0). I decided on using China glaze Sexagon as the base and doing a gradient mani using OPI Mad As A Hatter, Island Girl Aloha Heat, and Deborah Lippmann on top. My kind of glitter bomb!!
Have a happy Saturday!
