Recently Sinful released a few new polishes and by new I mean brand spankin’ new, not old polishes renamed with new names to make them seem new when really they’re not. Sinful has a bad habit for doing that. This is Cinderella. It’s a light blue filled with light pink fleck glitter. The glitter is a bit more noticeable and obviously light pink in real life than in pictures. The shade really does remind me of Cinderella’s dress and the pink fleck glitter is a nice and unique touch. The only thing I didn’t like about this polish is that is was on the thick side but still sheer so it took four coats which also means that it took forever to dry. If you don’t mind less than perfect formula and a longer than normal dry time period, this polish is wroth a try.
This green absolutely refused to capture correctly on camera. I can;t tell you how many damn shots I had to take. It’s bright green in real life but the camera kept photographing it as a blue-teal. I finally got some good shots after about 317 shots… but in real life, it still is a bit more dark green. By the way, like my lobster hands? Yeah, this polish makes them look just as red in real life. Attractive. Why do green polishes do that?! I’ll never understand. Anyways, China Glaze Four Leaf Clover is a slightly blue tinted medium green. This polish has excellent formula and application. I almost considered using only one coat but to be on the safe side I applied two. Sinful Green Ocean is green tinged clear base filled with iridescent green flakies that shift to light blue in the light. The flakies in Green Ocean are the thicker, chunkier sort, much like the ones in Color Club Covered In Diamonds rather than the thinner more delicate ones in the Nfu Oh or Zoya flakies. I really love this combo. It may be green but it still reminds me of the ocean. Hence then name. :0) Plus, it’s perfect for St. Patrick’s Day! Bring on the green!!
I’m not gonna lie, I’ve been completely uninspired lately when it comes to nail art. I was trying to do some cute Valentine’s Day manis for you guys before the holiday was over but for one, I’ve been completely drained the last few weeks and two, I don’t even like Valentine’s Day. I hardly liked it even when I did have a boyfriend. So please forgive me for the lack of holiday manis. My creativity for manis and nail art is in the gutter right now so I figured I would be boring and do cupcakes since I haven’t done them in quite some time. I’m pretty sick of cupcakes actually but I figure they’re holiday-esque and most of my readers like them (I assume based on feedback) so I went ahead and did them anyways. If you have questions about what I used to create design please feel free to ask and if you have any suggestions as to Valentine’s Day manis you’d like to see, make a comment and I’ll try my best.
The other day I saw some lady wearing a similar combo and it inspired me to try to recreate a similar look. I used one coat of Revlon Hot For Chocolate for the base with one coat of Sinful All About you on top. I really like the dark base with the gold and copper-orange glitter on top… it reminds me of fall. And since I will most likely be wearing all holiday colors once December rolls around I figured I might as well get in a few last autumn-esque manis while I still can.
Sorry for the lack in posting yesterday. I was busy in the morning and meant to most this as soon as I had gotten home but, in case you haven’t heard, all of San Diego County, parts of Orange County, upper Mexico, Arizona, and New Mexico experienced a blackout yesterday afternoon throughout this morning. Good thing the power is back cause all of San Diego was going crazy and running amuck last night! Anyywayyyyss… this is Sinful Nail Junkie gradient layered over Nicole Iceberg Lotus. The base jelly color of Nail Junkie is quite similar to that of Iceberg Lotus so if you’re looking for an opaque polish to layer NJ over, this one works really well! Sinful Nail Junkie is a deep turquoise jelly base loaded with different sizes and shapes of iridescent glitter. If you’ve never tried Sinful Colors before, try this one. It’s absolutely gorgeous and the polish that made me fall in love with Sinfuls!
Let me just start out by saying that these pictures do not do this mani justice. With that being said, I got this layering mani idea from my friend/co-worker Nicole. One day I showed up at work and Nicole was wearing this exact mani and I basically flipped out over how gorgeous it was. When I asked her what it was, she said it was ‘a $2 polish from Wallgreens with a dollar glitter polish on top’. Well, when she said ‘$2 polish from Wallgreens’ I was almost positive she meant a Sinful polish, and if that assumption were true, I was then almost positive that said color was Rise And Shine (I was right by the way). But for the life of me I couldn’t think of any easy to find dollar glitter polish that looked like the one she was wearing. She brought the polishes to work for me a few days later and I was shocked to see the glitter polish was an LA Colors polish from Dollar Tree! I’ve gone to my local Dollar Tree close to a hundred times and never give these LA Colors polishes a second glance and to my surprise, it’s actually a really pretty polish: a clear base with aquamarine glitter. The downfall: it may not look like a polish that costs a dollar, but it sure dried like one. An hour into my work day three fingers were smudged. And I’m not talking tiny unnoticeable smudges… I’m talkin big, honkin, smudge-across-you-whole-nail kinda smudge. Oh well. It was pretty while it looked perfect and even with my smudges I still got a few compliments! And for the record, this is one coat LA Colors Treasure Island over two coats Sinful Rise And Shine
Sinful Rise And Shine has been catching my eye ever since it was released last summer. It’s a bright tropical green turquoise with bright aqua blue shimmer in it. Seriously, for two bucks?! You really can’t go wrong here. Rise And Shine is a gorgeous polish and the perfect summer pedi or mani color in my opinion. An another bonus, it reminds me a lot of one of my all time favorite polishes, China Glaze Turned Up Turquoise. So if you’re lemming Turned Up Turquoise and can’t find it, try hunting down Rise And Shine instead!
Hope you’re all having a wonderful weekend!
