I wanted this polish for a very long time and then one day I saw a friend of mine at work wearing it and I freaked out. She could tell I really liked it so she gave it to me. Lucky me! I’ve been meaning to wear it and keep getting drawn into wearing other polishes so I figure with the warmer weather around (at least here in So Cal), I should wear a Spring-esque mani. This is Lacy Lilac topped with Bundle Monster flower stamp using a no-named Hot Topic polish on all nails except the accent ring finger I used Orly Fancy Fuchsia. I quite like it! =]

Barry M Mint Green

So I’ve finally gotten around to wearing this nail polish. Barry M Mint Green is a polish that I’ve been wanting ever since I knew it existed. During the first year or two of my love of polish I actually hated creme nail polishes. Until Essie Mint Candy Apple was released, that is. And that begun my huge love affair with mint green creme polishes. Then about a year ago when I knew I was going to be going to England for the Olympics, I knew I had to hunt me down a bottle of Barry M Mint Green. Lucky me, I found it and bought it and for whatever crazy reason it’s taken me almost 5 months of being home from across the pond to actually get around to wear it. Let me just say, it did not disappoint. It’s a mint green polish lovers fantasy. My only gripe is that it took three coats rather than two to be opaque but I really can’t complain. I love, love, love this polish.

Nicole by OPI Winter 2013 Selena Gomez Collection Part 2

Hey guys! I know I promised to have this second half posted two days ago… sorry about that. But I have them now! Behold the second half of NOPI’s Selena Gomez collection.

140141142
Love Song. A really pretty pastel yet bright lilac purple. There’s some very subtle hidden shimmer in this polishes but it’s pretty much impossible to see in real life so I’m gonna go ahead and consider this a creme. Very, very pretty and perfect for spring. I also own nothing similar in my collection which is nice to have such a unique shade of purple. Perfect formula and three coats for full coverage.

145148151
Naturally. A bubble gum pink creme with ever so subtle silver shimmer. It’s so hard to tell that there’s shimmer there in real life and in pictures so like Selena and Love Song, despite the fact that it’s technically a shimmer, I consider it a creme for all intensive purposes. This was three coats.

155157163
Spring Break. A medium toned hot pink creme. Not too original or unique but it’s nice and has nice formula. This is two coats.

165169172
Pretty In Plum. A really red toned purple shimmer. This just isn’t my color. It’s nice but there’s really nothing very exciting about it. It leaves me feeling really meeeeeeh. I feel like Selena could have done way better with this one. Nice application and two coats for full coverage.

178181184
Inner Sparkle. A clear base filled with large and medium sized light metallic pink hex glitter and small light gold hex glitter. This was three coats and clearly there’s still plenty of nail showing through so I think this would be best used as a top coat.

189192195
Sweet Dreams. A clear base filled with large silver hex, medium blue-turquoise hex and small light purple hex glitter. Again this is three coats so I think it would look much better used as a top coat; over a sparkly silver or dark blue maybe.

198203212
Confetti Fun. My favorite of the collection. It reminds me a lot of Deborah Lippmann Happy Birthday, Milani Gems, and OPI Rainbow Connection but Confetti Fun is not a dupe for any of those. It has multi colored large and medium hex glitter but unlike any other those other rainbow glitter polishes, Confetti Fun is also packed full of tiny multi colored square glitter. The small glitter really adds a lot to this polish and makes it really unique. Plus, this polish is pretty dense so it can be worn all by itself without layering over an opaque polish. I’m wearing it here at three coats and even though you can see VNL in the pictures, it’s not obvious in real life.

These polishes are available now and retail for $7.99 a bottle

Nicole by OPI Winter 2013 Selena Gomez Collection Part 1

Hey all! Contrary to popular belief, I am still alive!! YAY What good news that is!! Now I bet you’re all wondering where the hell have I been. Welllll… I’ve been busy and lazy on top of that is what it all boils down to. All of December my long distance bf was in town and so since I never get to see him I was attaching myself to his hip every minute I could so I really didn’t have time to blog. Since he’s been gone… we’ll I’ve just been super busy with work and lazy. I understand many of you and many other bloggers work full time and still fit stuff in but coming from a part time worker who didn’t even put on pants every day, I’ve been a bit overwhelmed and swamped with working 40 hours a week. By the time I get home (and the sun is down and I have no sunlight to swatch with anyways) I’m spent and on my days off (when I do have sunlight to swatch) I basically just want to sleep all day or go out an have fun. So I do apologize for the extreme lack in posts. Hopefully I’ll be posting more often than I have been but I probably will only keep it to once or twice a week now that I’m working full time and no longer have the time or energy to dedicate to this blog running my life. But I do still enjoy it and I hope you all still enjoy it as well…

Now, onto the Selena Gomez collection for Nicole by OPI’s winter collection. Today I’m sharing the first half of the collection and tomorrow I’ll share the second half.

023025038
Selena. A pastel peachy-pink with very subtle shimmer. If you look closely you can see the silver and gold shimmer but for all intesive purposes I’d consider this a creme. It’s very pretty and a perfect pink for spring. This is two coats.

042046050
Heavenly Angel. Believe it or not, this is two coats of Heavenly Angel over Selena. In the bottle, it’s so pretty and full of iridescent flakies but the flakies are so sparse in the formula, it just looks bad on the nails. Good idea, bad execution in my opinion.

051058061
Kissed At Midnight. A clear base filled with large and small light gold and silver hex glitter. It’s pretty but my only word of advice is to apply thine layers and let the polish almost fully dry before applying the next layer. Clearly you can see the goopey spillage on the edges of some of my nails from applying too thick of coats and the polish leaking over. I like it alone but I think it may look even prettier over a light cold chrome polish. This is three coats.

066071074
Hit The Lights. A bright yellow creme. Probably my least favorite polish of the collection just because it’s so… yellow. But if you love yellow or are looking for a true yellow creme, this ones for you. And unlike most yellow polishes which are known for a terrible, streaky, runny formula, Hit The Lights has flawless formula and applies perfectly. Good job on perfecting a yellow polish formula, Nicole. This was three coats but I think I could have probably gotten away with just two.

080085087
Scarlett. OMG is this a stunner. This polish is so gorgeous, I can’t even get over it. It’s a like a deep pink raspberry with duochrome glass fleck that mostly appears fuchsia and hot pink but at extreme angles it flashes orange. This is seriously so, so pretty. There are a lot of similar glass fleck raspberry pink polishes out there but I think Scarlett trumps them all. No joke, you need this polish. Even if you don;t think you do, you do. Two coats and perfect application.

093101103
Stars At Night. A clear base with bigger-thicker and slightly small-thinner silver holo bar glitter. Very pretty alone or worn as a top coat. This is three coats.

109118126
Mi Fantasia. Probably the most unique polish in this collection. A clear base filled with tons of small cobalt blue hex glitter and duochrome turquoise-green-yellow bar glitter. This polish has an oceany look to it that’s really pretty and unique. Plus it’s dense enough to wear alone at three coats and the formula isn’t as runny as the other clear based glitter polishes in this collection. I really love this one as well. I think it’s my second favorite in the collection.

Tomorrow I will be posting the second half of the collection so stay tuned :)

OPI Holiday 2012 Skyfall Collection

18 November 2012 by , No Comments

Right now I’m pretty embarrassed to mention that I’ve had this collection swatched for a month now. A month exactly. I know cause I just checked the date the images were uploaded to my computer. The 17th of October. It is now the 17th of November. I’m terrible, I know. So without further adieu, here are the swatches from the OPI Holiday 2012 Skyfall collection, inspired by the new James Bond film… Skyfall. Bet you didn’t see the one coming.
Moonraker. A light frosty, silver-shifting-gunmetal metallic. It appears very light silver when you look at it head on but around the edges it darkens quite a lot into a medium toned gunmetal silver. It’s a bit frosty and brush stroke-y so you have to be careful on application. This is two coats.

Tomorrow Never Dies. A bright royal purple with tiny shimmer particles in blue, and fuchsia. This ones also a bit brush stroke-y. This is two coats.

The Living Daylights. A clear polish sparsely filled with large hex glitter in light gold, teal, silver and peachy-rose gold. This here is two coats and you can see how sparse the glitter is. This is clearly meant to be layered over another polish rather than being worn alone over bare nails.

The World Is Not Enough. A brownish-grey-taupe with rose and gold shimmer. It’s hard to describe this color. It looks more brown/taupe in some lighting and more silver-grey in others but then the gold and rose shimmer in it is heavy and very apparent and shifts the color too… it’s very odd and very unique but I quite like it. I own nothing at all similar to this polish. My only qualm is that it’s on the sheer side. This is three thick coats.

Live And Let Die. A dark blackened forest green creme with gold fleck glitter. I swear this polish is so… weird… or something. It’s like, a creme but the fleck glitter still shows through so much when normally creme polishes hide and cover up all the glitter from showing through. It’s so cool. I really like this polish. This is two coats.

On Her Majesty’s Secret Service. A smokey silver jam packed with fleck glitter in gold, blue, light silver and green. It’s like a darker, more silvery version of The World Is Not Enough… same idea. This one is also on the sheer side so it requires three coats.

The Spy Who Loved Me. A bright cherry/apple red with red fleck glitter. This one is seriously so pretty. It’s way prettier in person, I promise. If you love reds, you need this one. This is two coats. Three may have been better but two was sufficient.

Die Another Day. A metallic tomato red with red and orangey-gold shimmer. This is two coats.

You Only Live Twice. A bright raspberry pink jelly filled with hot pink fleck glitter. Really pretty. This is two coats.

Casino Royale. A warm toned medium plum-purple creme. It’s slightly sheer, especially at the tips so this one looks best with three coats.

Skyfall. A medium brown toned maroon-burgundy creme. Probably my least favorite from the collection. It’s not bad, it’s just kinda boring. This is two coats.

Goldeneye. My hands down favorite from the collection… it’s not hard to see why. Goldeneye is a bright, metallic gold fleck polish. It’s hard to describe. It’s like flecks of golden amazeballs. Yeah, bad description. But seriously, this might just take Dazzled By Gold’s place as my favorite gold polish. Just maybe. You need this. No joke. I mean, I love gold polishes so I’m biased… but still. Even if you don’t like gold polish, you still need this one. You’ll thank me later. You’re welcome.

This collection is available now and retails for $8.50 a bottle. Go get em!!!

China Glaze Fall 2012 Safari Tourist Collection

6 November 2012 by , 1 Comment

Sooo late on posting these but.. whatever. Here’s the second half of the China Glaze Fall 2012 Collection… the Tourist set:

Desert Sun. A butterscotch creme. This is one of those ugly- pretty colors. You either love it or you hate it. And I love it. This is two coats.

Kalahari Kiss. Another ugly-pretty color. I like this one too, but not as much as I like Desert Sun. Kalahari Kiss is a light sandy-tanish-yellow creme. This is two coats.

Adventure Red-y. A slightly cool toned medium red creme. As far as red cremes go, this isn’t unique by any means but the formula is nice and unlike most red cremes/jellys (which need minimum 3 coats), this one only needed two coats.

I’m Not Lion. Probably my favorite from the collection. It’s a light gold glitter with light gold, champagne, silver, taupe and hologram glitter in it. Not all the glitter in this polish are hologram, only some.. it’s interesting and very different from any other gold holo polishes in my collection. This is three coats for full coverage.

Call of the Wild. A dark, vampy burgandy-brown creme. This is two coats.

I Herd That. My second favorite of the collection and very similar to I’m Not Lion. I Herd That has gold, copper and hologram glitter in it. It looks much more warm and fall-esque than I’m Not Lion. This is three coats for full coverage.
