Barry M Copper

23 October 2012 by , 1 Comment

So I still haven’t gotten around to posting all the polishes I picked up in Europe yet but out of all of them, this one is probably my favorite. Barry M Copper is a copper foil-y glitter flake like polish with flecks of copper, bronze, rose gold, and rustic orange that shift to a bright antique gold around the edges. It reminds me a lot of OPI Warm & Fozzie. I haven’t swatched them side by side but from the bottles they look fairly similar but aren’t dupes. Seriously though, I love this polish.

Zoya Fall 2012 Diva Collection

5 October 2012 by , No Comments

Sorry for the delay in posting the second half of Zoya’s Fall collection. I’ve been super busy and super stressed out and yada yada yada… here’s past two of Zoya’s 2012 Fall collection. This set is entitled Diva.

Elisa. A bright, true shimmery red with shimmery foil like particles that make this polish light up and sparkle in the sun. I’m a huge fan of red polishes and this one is really pretty. It reminds me of Christmas. This was two coats and has perfect formula and application.

Suri. A slightly warm toned shimmery royal purple that shimmers tiny pink and blue particles in the sun. This one actually surprised me. In the bottle it looks pretty boring and I was sure I was going to be left underwhlemed. Fortunately, it’s much prettier on the nail than in the bottle. This is also two coats and has great formula and application.

Song. Again, how is this a woman’s name, Zoya?? I guess the pretty polish helps to make up with the completely abnormal name. Song is a medium blue filled with bright royal blue metallic fleck glitter that make this polish super unique. I don’t exactly think ‘fall’ when I look at this polish but at least Zoya is stepping out of the box. Also two coats and good formula.

Ray. Raaaayyyyyyyy. Whhyyyyyyyy???? This polish is so….. bleeeeehhh. It’s a dark, frosty swamp green with silver shimmer. Whhhhyyyyy? I can’t understand this color. There’s nothing about this polish that I like. Though it does have nice application and become opaque in two coats. But even still, I just can’t. Not a fan.

FeiFei. Oh FeiFei!! Way to redeem this collection after the terrible disappointment I suffered from Ray. FeiFei is the winner of this collection of you ask me. It’s a chunky, foily, metallic sparkly glitter made up of light and dark steel blue, gold, purple, dark silver and maybe a few other colors in between. It’s really stunning when it glitters in the light. If you pick up one polish from either fall collection, may I suggest this be it. It’s seriously a stunner. You won’t be disappointed. This is also two coats and has perfect formula and application.

Daul. My second favorite polish of the collection. Very similar to FeiFei in finish but has a purple base and includes mostly gold and purple metallic shimmer particles. Two coats and also, you guessed it, perfection application.

This collection is available now online at Zoya.com.

OPI Fall 2012 New Designer Series Polishes

9 September 2012 by , 14 Comments

Once again, this fall OPI has added two brand new shades to their Designer Serious collection. Don’t get your hopes up too high, just like last year’s DS polishes, these two/too (mehhh heeehhh I’m funnayy) are also non-holographic. Bummer. BUT!!!!!… They are super pretty and shimmery, so not all hope is lost. Behold:

Luxurious. Luxurious indeed. Are you seeing this polish?! Maybe not everyone loves orange. But I love orange. Especially these darker oranges that scream autumn. Luxurious is a slightly burned, yet bright orange metallic filled with tons and tons of gold and orange foil-like glitter flecks. Literally, pictures do this polish no justice and can’t even begin to convey how this baby sparkles and shines. Not to mention, the formula and application are flawless. To sum it up, you need three of four bottles of this.

Indulgence. Ohhhhhh myyyyyyy gaaaaaawwwwd. What is this polish?!?! It’s like a deeper, richer, more raspberry toned, sparklier version of China Glaze Strawberry Fields on crack. Once again, pictures don’t do this polish justice. It’s a bright, rich raspberry metallic filled gold and orange foil-like shimmer glitter. And just like with Luxurious, formula and application are flawless. You may need a few backup bottles of this polish as well.

Both polishes are available starting this month (though I’m not sure when this month) and retail for $12.50. I realize that the price tag for DS polishes is a bit hefty compared to the $8.50 per bottle the core line polishes cost buuuutttt… these polishes are worth the cost. Trust me. Go get em while the gettin’s hot.

A Very Merry Un-Birthday

9 July 2012 by , 15 Comments

So today is my birthday and this is my birthday mani. It’s Orly Shine as the base with the gradient design done with OPI Mas As A Hatter, Island Girl Aloha Surf and Deborah Lippmann Happy Birthday.

And as a side note, my best friend got my the absolute coolest gift ever. She gave me a jar (a Goober jar haha) filled with sea glass picked off the sandy beaches of Okinawa. I. am. obsessed. with. sea glass. Like no joke. And I cried when she gave it to me. Cool story huh?

Stay Beautiful.

OPI Summer 2012 The Amazing Spider-Man Collection

18 April 2012 by , 75 Comments

This summer OPI is releasing a Spider-Man themed collection to coincide with the release of a brand new Spider-Man movie. I’m not a huge Spider-Man fan but the nail polish-comic connection kind of thrills me so I was really looking forward to this collection. Let’s have a looksy, shall we?

Your Web Or Mine?. A frosty-ish mauve medium pink. It’s not so frosty that it’s an ugly frost polish… but it’s still clearly frosty. It’s subtle enough though that I still like it because of the color. This is two coats.

Into The Night. A deep metallic blue that is super shimmery and foil like in the sunlight. It lights up with dark midnight blue and silver sparkles with the sun hits it. It really is much prettier than I expected it to be. It is pretty sheer though for such a dark polish. This is three coats.

Call Me Gwen-ever. A medium orange creme. It’s not a true orange, it’s slightly coral. This is three coats.

My Boyfriend Scales Walls. A slightly grey tinted white creme. There’s so little grey in this that it almost appears a pure stark white but the grey makes it slightly dingy. This is three coats.

Green Shatter. This is shown here over My Boyfriend Scales Walls. It’s a dark evergreen shatter polish with small irregular shaped flecks of silver glitter in it.

Number One Nemesis. A dark gunmetal grey polish that is slightly green tinted and filled with tons and tons of glass fleck like shimmer in gold, green and silver that sparkles rainbow colors in the sunlight. This is a very close runner up for being my favorite of the collection. I really, really love this polish. Like a lot, a lot. I had no idea I would love it so much. It may have even taken the top spot from OPI Brand New Skates as my all time favorite gunmetal silver polish. This is three coats but I probably could have gotten away just fine with two.

Just Spotted The Lizard. OMFG. OMFG. ARE YOU SEEING THIS!!!? Holy juhybdendfjkhbnef!!! Um… yeah. I’m freaking out. Like, seriously I’m having extreme issues right now. I can’t even function. This polish is so amazing. Like, I can’t even. omg. Anyways. I Just Spotted The Lizard is an antique gold-green-blue-teal metallic duochrome polish. Apparently it’s a dupe for Chanel Peridot which I almost spent $30 on when it came out but now I’m thankful that I didn’t. This is officially my new favorite gold polish and is definitely in my top five favorite polish of all time. Seriously, run, don’t walk to your nearest nail supply store to get this. You need like, seven bottles of it okay. No joke. Alright, I’m being such a spaz…I just can’t control my feelings right now. This is three coats.

This polish comes out in May and retails for $8.50 a bottle.

Zoya Surf Collection Summer 2012

5 April 2012 by , 70 Comments

Rory. Seriously, pictures do not do this polish justice. This was the surprise of the collection for me. In the bottle and in indoor lighting it’s just a normal light pink-purple with silver foil-like shimmer. But in the sunlight the color becomes a much more vibrant shade of pink-lavender and the shimmer sparkles so pretty. I really like this one a lot. This was two coats.

Meg. An odd shade of green with the same silver foil shimmer as Rory. It’s somewhere between a faded green apple sort of green and the avocado green shade we saw yesterday in Zoya Tracie from the Beach Collection. This was two coats.

Mytra. What an odd name. Zoya typically names their polishes after female names but are there really any women out there named Mytra?? None that I’ve heard of, that’s for sure. Anyways, Mytra is a bright orange-coral polish that is somewhat dulled by the silver foil shimmer in it. This is two coats.

Carly. A warm, red toned medium purple filled with the same silver foil shimmer as the rest of the collection. However, in the sunlight in addition to the silver shimmer there is also a ton of pink, fuchsia, and some blue shimmer too. For what seems like an ordinary foil polish in indoor lighting, this polish really comes to life in the sunlight. It’s not what I would typically wear during Spring since it’s pretty dark but it’s gorgeous nonetheless. This is two coats.

Zuza. Probably my favorite from the collection. This polish is outstanding. Again, pictures do not do this polish justice. It’s a bit more green-aquamarine in real life than it is in these pictures and it’s filled with silver foil shimmer. It’s also more vibrant in pictures. The top picture is most color accurate. If this polish isn’t the perfect polish for Summer, I don’t know what is. This is two coats.

Kimber. My second favorite of the collection. Kimber is a warm hot pink, slightly berry tinted jelly filled with lots of gold shimmer. I’m glad that this polish doesn’t have small silver foil shimmer like the rest of the collection cause it really would have cooled down this polish and it wouldn’t have been nearly as gorgeous as it is with the gold shimmer. This is so pretty and I really don’t own anything like it. Kimber is perfect for Summer. This is two coats.

Nicole by OPI Spring 2012

11 February 2012 by , 109 Comments

This Spring Nicole by OPI is releasing four new shades in addition to the three Wal*Mart exclusive polishes I shared with you yesterday. These four polishes will be available at various Nicole by OPI retailers including Target, Wal*Mart, and ULTA. So in case you’ve seen one too many People of Wal*Mart photos and hence refuse to walk in the joint, you can still get your hands on these pretties elsewhere.
Vio-Let’s Talk About Red. A deep red toned pink-berry with pink and violet fleck shimmer. It’s a bot similar to NOPI Best Pink ever but I much prefer this one because the color is deeper, richer and more opaque. This was two coats.

Shoot For The Maroon. A deep plum filled with duochrome micro fleck glitter that shifts from bright fuchsia and purple to antique gold and orange and even a hint of green at the very edges of the nail. This polish is awesome. It’s worth viewing full size. The application was great and I achieved full opaqueness at two coats. And I can’t lie.. I really love the name of the polish. It reminds me of one of my favorite songs called Shooting The Moon by OK:

A Lit-teal But Of Love. A gorgeous royal blue foil with silver and light blue-turquoise shimmer. I really love this polish but I swear that it’s a dupe for Orly Sweet Peacock that came out this past Fall. I guess I’ll have to do a comparison. This was two coats.

A Million Sparkles. Such a fitting name for this polish. It’s a clear base jam packed with medium-small turquoise-blue hex glitter, medium light gold hex glitter, really thin turquoise-blue bar glitter, and thick pink bar glitter. I really love the look of this. It’s so unique and sparkly and I’ve been getting a ton of compliments while wearing this. If there’s one polish you get from these new releases, I would suggest it be this one. There’s seriously nothing out there even comparable to this polish and it’s just so fun and awesome. This was three coats but if you were layering you could use one coat for a sheer layer or two for almost full opaqueness.
These polishes are all available at various Nicole by OPI retailers beginning this month.
