Nicole by OPI Winter 2013 Selena Gomez Collection Part 1

21 January 2013 by , 2 Comments

Hey all! Contrary to popular belief, I am still alive!! YAY What good news that is!! Now I bet you’re all wondering where the hell have I been. Welllll… I’ve been busy and lazy on top of that is what it all boils down to. All of December my long distance bf was in town and so since I never get to see him I was attaching myself to his hip every minute I could so I really didn’t have time to blog. Since he’s been gone… we’ll I’ve just been super busy with work and lazy. I understand many of you and many other bloggers work full time and still fit stuff in but coming from a part time worker who didn’t even put on pants every day, I’ve been a bit overwhelmed and swamped with working 40 hours a week. By the time I get home (and the sun is down and I have no sunlight to swatch with anyways) I’m spent and on my days off (when I do have sunlight to swatch) I basically just want to sleep all day or go out an have fun. So I do apologize for the extreme lack in posts. Hopefully I’ll be posting more often than I have been but I probably will only keep it to once or twice a week now that I’m working full time and no longer have the time or energy to dedicate to this blog running my life. But I do still enjoy it and I hope you all still enjoy it as well…

Now, onto the Selena Gomez collection for Nicole by OPI’s winter collection. Today I’m sharing the first half of the collection and tomorrow I’ll share the second half.

023025038
Selena. A pastel peachy-pink with very subtle shimmer. If you look closely you can see the silver and gold shimmer but for all intesive purposes I’d consider this a creme. It’s very pretty and a perfect pink for spring. This is two coats.

042046050
Heavenly Angel. Believe it or not, this is two coats of Heavenly Angel over Selena. In the bottle, it’s so pretty and full of iridescent flakies but the flakies are so sparse in the formula, it just looks bad on the nails. Good idea, bad execution in my opinion.

051058061
Kissed At Midnight. A clear base filled with large and small light gold and silver hex glitter. It’s pretty but my only word of advice is to apply thine layers and let the polish almost fully dry before applying the next layer. Clearly you can see the goopey spillage on the edges of some of my nails from applying too thick of coats and the polish leaking over. I like it alone but I think it may look even prettier over a light cold chrome polish. This is three coats.

066071074
Hit The Lights. A bright yellow creme. Probably my least favorite polish of the collection just because it’s so… yellow. But if you love yellow or are looking for a true yellow creme, this ones for you. And unlike most yellow polishes which are known for a terrible, streaky, runny formula, Hit The Lights has flawless formula and applies perfectly. Good job on perfecting a yellow polish formula, Nicole. This was three coats but I think I could have probably gotten away with just two.

080085087
Scarlett. OMG is this a stunner. This polish is so gorgeous, I can’t even get over it. It’s a like a deep pink raspberry with duochrome glass fleck that mostly appears fuchsia and hot pink but at extreme angles it flashes orange. This is seriously so, so pretty. There are a lot of similar glass fleck raspberry pink polishes out there but I think Scarlett trumps them all. No joke, you need this polish. Even if you don;t think you do, you do. Two coats and perfect application.

093101103
Stars At Night. A clear base with bigger-thicker and slightly small-thinner silver holo bar glitter. Very pretty alone or worn as a top coat. This is three coats.

109118126
Mi Fantasia. Probably the most unique polish in this collection. A clear base filled with tons of small cobalt blue hex glitter and duochrome turquoise-green-yellow bar glitter. This polish has an oceany look to it that’s really pretty and unique. Plus it’s dense enough to wear alone at three coats and the formula isn’t as runny as the other clear based glitter polishes in this collection. I really love this one as well. I think it’s my second favorite in the collection.

Tomorrow I will be posting the second half of the collection so stay tuned :)

Zoya Sara & Colorama Ruby Rays

16 October 2012 by , 2 Comments

So lately I’ve been really obsessed with all the new iTunes early released Taylor Swift songs off her new upcoming album Red, which will be released this upcoming Monday. And call me lame but, all I’ve been in the mood for lately is red. Listening to songs off the red album, red pants, red dresses, red lips, red nail polish. All things red basically. So to cure my longing for red nails I put on two coats of Zoya Sara topped with two coats of Colorama Ruby Rays. I feel like I’ve worn all my red polishes a million time so if you have any good layering ideas for red manis,  feel free to share. =]

Spoiled by Wet n Wild Deeper Dive

29 April 2012 by , 287 Comments

Hey guys! Long time, no post. I’m still pretty sick but since I was gone on vacation all last week I decided I needed to get my ass up and make a post regardless. Today I’m sharing with you a polish from the somewhat new polish line called Spoiled that is mby Wet n Wild. I saw a huge display of these polishes for the first time about 3 months ago at CVS, got really excited and then noticed a lot of them looked like Sinful polish dupes. Oh well I guess. That’s what you get for $2 drug store polish. I did pick up a few Spolied polishes though about a month or so when they went on sale for BOGO50% and this is one of the shades I bought. This is Spoiled Deeper Dive. It’s a bright yet somewhat deep turquoise jelly filled with tons of flake glitter. This polish reminds me a lot of Zoya Charla. I haven’t done a side by side comparison of the two but I think they’re pretty close. Deeper Dive may be a touch bluer (though it does appear more blue in the pictures than it is in rela life). It’s a really pretty polish and perfect for summer. This is two coats.

OPI Summer 2012 The Amazing Spider-Man Collection

18 April 2012 by , 75 Comments

This summer OPI is releasing a Spider-Man themed collection to coincide with the release of a brand new Spider-Man movie. I’m not a huge Spider-Man fan but the nail polish-comic connection kind of thrills me so I was really looking forward to this collection. Let’s have a looksy, shall we?

Your Web Or Mine?. A frosty-ish mauve medium pink. It’s not so frosty that it’s an ugly frost polish… but it’s still clearly frosty. It’s subtle enough though that I still like it because of the color. This is two coats.

Into The Night. A deep metallic blue that is super shimmery and foil like in the sunlight. It lights up with dark midnight blue and silver sparkles with the sun hits it. It really is much prettier than I expected it to be. It is pretty sheer though for such a dark polish. This is three coats.

Call Me Gwen-ever. A medium orange creme. It’s not a true orange, it’s slightly coral. This is three coats.

My Boyfriend Scales Walls. A slightly grey tinted white creme. There’s so little grey in this that it almost appears a pure stark white but the grey makes it slightly dingy. This is three coats.

Green Shatter. This is shown here over My Boyfriend Scales Walls. It’s a dark evergreen shatter polish with small irregular shaped flecks of silver glitter in it.

Number One Nemesis. A dark gunmetal grey polish that is slightly green tinted and filled with tons and tons of glass fleck like shimmer in gold, green and silver that sparkles rainbow colors in the sunlight. This is a very close runner up for being my favorite of the collection. I really, really love this polish. Like a lot, a lot. I had no idea I would love it so much. It may have even taken the top spot from OPI Brand New Skates as my all time favorite gunmetal silver polish. This is three coats but I probably could have gotten away just fine with two.

Just Spotted The Lizard. OMFG. OMFG. ARE YOU SEEING THIS!!!? Holy juhybdendfjkhbnef!!! Um… yeah. I’m freaking out. Like, seriously I’m having extreme issues right now. I can’t even function. This polish is so amazing. Like, I can’t even. omg. Anyways. I Just Spotted The Lizard is an antique gold-green-blue-teal metallic duochrome polish. Apparently it’s a dupe for Chanel Peridot which I almost spent $30 on when it came out but now I’m thankful that I didn’t. This is officially my new favorite gold polish and is definitely in my top five favorite polish of all time. Seriously, run, don’t walk to your nearest nail supply store to get this. You need like, seven bottles of it okay. No joke. Alright, I’m being such a spaz…I just can’t control my feelings right now. This is three coats.

This polish comes out in May and retails for $8.50 a bottle.

OPI Summer 2012 Minnie Mouse Collection

17 April 2012 by , 273 Comments

This summer OPI is debuting a collection inspired by Micky’s favorite gal pal, Minnie Mouse. Behold:

Nothin’ Mousie ‘Bout It. A light pink tinted clear base filled with irregular shaped iridescent fleck glitter that sparkles light pink, purple and orange as well as light pink heart glitter. The glitter hearts look plentiful in the bottle but it’s still hard to pick them up on the brush. What I like most about this polish is that it’s chock full of the iridescent fleck glitter so you only need two coats in order to get a really good shimmer payoff. This is my favorite polish of the collection. Nothin’ Mousie ‘Bout It is shown here with two coats alone. Sorry about the stained nails.

If You Moust You Moust. A somewhat bright medium pink creme that leans more cool than warm. Not terribly unique but I like the color and it’s great for summer. This was three coats.

I’m All Ears. What a freakin cute name! The name of this polish has Micky (and I guess in this case, Minnie) all over it. This is the phrase that reminds me of Micky Mouse. I absolutely love it!! I’m All Ears is a hot pink polish filled with irregular shaped iridescent fleck glitter that sparkles hot pink, iridescent purple and even has a bit of duochrome orange to it too which you can see if you click to view the pictures full size. Again, it’s not super unique… I can think of a few other polishes in my collection that have the same feel to them but this one is just so, so pretty. The way it lights up in the sunlight just screams summer to me. I love it. This is two coats.

The Color Of Minnie. A bright red filled with hot pink shimmer. Probably my least favorite of the collection just because I’m not a huge fan of red polishes (unless they’re really unique and flashy) and this one isn’t really flashy. It’s still a nice red though and has nice application. This was two coats.

I believe this collection will be available beginning sometime in May though I do not have an exact date.

Nicole by OPI Spring 2012 Target Exclusive Shades

7 April 2012 by , 434 Comments

This Spring Nicole by OPI has launched a new four piece Target Exclusive collection. I have three of them to share with you because the fourth polish Look At Me, Look At Me was nowhere to be found.

That’s Totally Red-ical. A bright and vivid pink-coral toned red that is a creme for all intensive purposes but in the sunlight you can see tiny pink-red shimmer shine through the base. This was two coats.

Great Minds Pink Alike. A warm coral-pink jelly filled with iridescent pink glass fleck shimmer. This reminds me a lot of Nicole by OPI You’re An Angel, but less pink, more coral, and the glass fleck glitter is smaller in this than in You’re An Angel. This is two coats and my favorite of the collection.

Purple Yourself Together. A medium purple creme filled with golden copper shimmer. This also reminds me of another OPI Polish…. Sephora By OPI Hell To The No. I haven’t compared them side by side but from memory I think these two are very similar in appearance yet Purple Yourself Together’s formula is not as pigmented. If you wanted the Sephora by OPI Gleek Out! collection and missed your opportunity, this is your chance to kill your lemming for something similar.
