I’m alive!!! I’m pretty sure this was the longest break I’ve ever taken away from the blog. That was what?, almost 5 days. I’m sorry about that. It wasn’t on purpose. I’ve been so busy, I’ve barely been home except for sleep (and really that’s a lie anyways cause since the Thursday I’ve only slept at home twice but… that’s not that point), and I think I wore Avon Jade for 4 days straight (and I’m happy to report back that for once I can comment on a polish’s wear and Avon Jade wore fabulously without a chip are barely any tip wear with for day’s wear!). Anyways, I’m rambling. Point is I’m back and apologize for the absence.
On to today’s post. Have you guys seen these new Spoiled polishes at CVS?! I saw them about a month ago and freaked about but didn’t end up buying any because I was at CVS on a mission to get a passport photo and not to get sidetracked with buying hoards of nail polish. Well, last week these babies were on sale at CVS for 2 for $3 (regular retail is $1.99 each) and so I stocked up and this was one of the polishes I picked up. It’s Spoiled by CVS I’m so Jaded. It’s a bright lime green with lots of bright yellow shimmer as well as a bit or orange and rainbow micro shimmer. I had doubts about the application of these polishes but this one applied perfectly in two coats. Also note worthy, I wouldn’t really classify this as a neon but when I held my hand under a black light my nails glowed like they do with neon polish so there is at least some neon pigment in I’m So Jaded. Cool story bro, right?
Before I start on this green falkie combo let me just mention that yesterday’s China Glaze Four Leaf Clover mani stained the hell out my nails. I mean, they’re worse than any other stains I’ve ever had. My nails are literally green. I soaked them in acetone for about 30 seconds and scrubbed at them but the stains didn’t diminish. The polish is so pigmented that it even slightly stained the skin around my fingers when green I was removing the polish. It was a nightmare. It’s a pretty polish but after the horrendous stains acquired, I’ll probably never wear that polish again. In my experience, stains lessen over time but still, almost no polish is worth stains this bad.
Now on to today’s mani. This is two coats of OPI Gargantuan Green Grape, a medium lime green creme matte, topped with two coats of LA Girl Crowd Surfing, a green tinged clear base loaded with duochrome orange flakies and micro shimmer that shift to yellow and green. Crowd Surfing isn’t nearly dense enough to wear on it’s own and get coverage so I thought that GGGM would be a good pairing.
This green absolutely refused to capture correctly on camera. I can;t tell you how many damn shots I had to take. It’s bright green in real life but the camera kept photographing it as a blue-teal. I finally got some good shots after about 317 shots… but in real life, it still is a bit more dark green. By the way, like my lobster hands? Yeah, this polish makes them look just as red in real life. Attractive. Why do green polishes do that?! I’ll never understand. Anyways, China Glaze Four Leaf Clover is a slightly blue tinted medium green. This polish has excellent formula and application. I almost considered using only one coat but to be on the safe side I applied two. Sinful Green Ocean is green tinged clear base filled with iridescent green flakies that shift to light blue in the light. The flakies in Green Ocean are the thicker, chunkier sort, much like the ones in Color Club Covered In Diamonds rather than the thinner more delicate ones in the Nfu Oh or Zoya flakies. I really love this combo. It may be green but it still reminds me of the ocean. Hence then name. :0) Plus, it’s perfect for St. Patrick’s Day! Bring on the green!!
It’s already March and St. Patty’s Day is on it’s way which means… lots of green nail polish! And this is one of my all time favorites. NYX Tahitian is a medium lime green shimmer. It’s more on the green side than on the blue side… it reminds me of fresh green grass and Spring. On a side note, last night I went to a party wearing this polish and all the boys told me that my green nails matched my green eyes. In actuality I have light blue eyes. Everyone knows that green eyes are the prettiest so I didn’t correct them.
