I did this mani literally like, two months ago and now I’m finally just getting around to sharing it. I’ve been so busy and caught up with life (plus a big move!) that I really haven’t had time to post at all. I’ve been swatching… just not posting unfortunately. So I have a pile up of pictures that need to be posted and so I’m going to try really hard to get everything up in the next few weeks cause come the end of April (right before/during/a while after my move) I’ll probably be so swamped that I won’t be posting for a few weeks. Soooo… here’s the first of the pile up of pictures taken and not yet shared. For this I used Wet n Wild Blackmail as the base then used OPI What’s Dune?, OPI Significant Other Color, Orly Space Cadet, Pure Ice Heart Breaker, Pure Ice Busted, NYX Aqua Glitter and topped it all off with Northern Lights Holograpic Top Coat.
Again, I’m trying to get caught up on posting and swatches of collections but please bare with me and if I stop posting for a while again, just know that it’s just because of my move and being completely swamped with life. Thanks for hanging in there with me, guys!
Happy, happy Thanksgiving to all my American readers (and those overseas who still celebrate)!! This year I am thankful for my family, close friends, all the amazing adventures 2012 held for me, my grandparents’ health, the fact that my blog has made it to it’s 2nd anniversary today and for all my amazing readers and followers!! Thanks to those who have kept with me from the start and to the new readers who have joined me along the way. I appreciate you all!
I hope you all have an amazing and safe day filled with family, friends and food! Eat up! Gobble Gobble :>~ (
My first try at galaxy nails. I think I may have ended up going a bit overboard on the sponging cause you can’t see much of the black background. However, in real life the holo sparkles are much more apparent and so it looks a bit better and less.. cloudy. This mani was fairly easy and quick and I absolutely love it so I will definitely be trying it again. For this mani I used Asami’s space nails tutorial. I used Wet n Wild Blackmail for the background and a textured paper towel (like the one shown in the video tutorial) to sponge on OPI What’s Dune, OPI Significant Other Color and Orly Space Cadet in varying designs and intensities across each nail. I then added Northern Lights Hologram top coat on top of each nail (all over) and then used a dotting tool to add some of the holo glitter and large iridescent glitter pieces from China Glaze Shooting Stars (appropriately named) in random areas on each nail. Lastly, I added top coat to make it super glossy and make the holo glitter sparklier. I really, really, really love this look. I’m literally obsessed with these galaxy manis and now that I’ve tried it and know how easy it is I plan on doing it much more often. Hopefully you like them too cause you’ll be seeing more of them from me.
If you’ve tried galaxy nails before and have any suggestions on polishes, techniques or tutorials to use… please let me know!
And I’m sure you’ve heard me mention this song at least half a dozen times on this blog before, but since it’s one of my all time favorite songs and the situation is permitting, I can’t not post the video for Drops of Jupiter below. I just have to.
I’m not gonna lie, I’ve been completely uninspired lately when it comes to nail art. I was trying to do some cute Valentine’s Day manis for you guys before the holiday was over but for one, I’ve been completely drained the last few weeks and two, I don’t even like Valentine’s Day. I hardly liked it even when I did have a boyfriend. So please forgive me for the lack of holiday manis. My creativity for manis and nail art is in the gutter right now so I figured I would be boring and do cupcakes since I haven’t done them in quite some time. I’m pretty sick of cupcakes actually but I figure they’re holiday-esque and most of my readers like them (I assume based on feedback) so I went ahead and did them anyways. If you have questions about what I used to create design please feel free to ask and if you have any suggestions as to Valentine’s Day manis you’d like to see, make a comment and I’ll try my best.
Indeed it is. I did a Christmas mani last year that I really loved a whole lot and so this year I decided I would recreate it. You can see the original mani here. The only main difference is that this year the base I used for the mani was Color Club Gingerbread from this year’s holiday Beyond The Mistletoe Collection and the base I used for last year’s mani was Color Club Magic Attraction from the Glitter Vixen Collection. Behold: Santa’s Hat, a gingerbread man, a Christmas tree, a candy cane, an ice skate, a wrapped present, Rudolph, and a snowman.
