China Glaze Fall 2012 Safari Tourist Collection

6 November 2012 by , 1 Comment

Sooo late on posting these but.. whatever. Here’s the second half of the China Glaze Fall 2012 Collection… the Tourist set:

Desert Sun. A butterscotch creme. This is one of those ugly- pretty colors. You either love it or you hate it. And I love it. This is two coats.

Kalahari Kiss. Another ugly-pretty color. I like this one too, but not as much as I like Desert Sun. Kalahari Kiss is a light sandy-tanish-yellow creme. This is two coats.

Adventure Red-y. A slightly cool toned medium red creme. As far as red cremes go, this isn’t unique by any means but the formula is nice and unlike most red cremes/jellys (which need minimum 3 coats), this one only needed two coats.

I’m Not Lion. Probably my favorite from the collection. It’s a light gold glitter with light gold, champagne, silver, taupe and hologram glitter in it. Not all the glitter in this polish are hologram, only some.. it’s interesting and very different from any other gold holo polishes in my collection. This is three coats for full coverage.

Call of the Wild. A dark, vampy burgandy-brown creme. This is two coats.

I Herd That. My second favorite of the collection and very similar to I’m Not Lion. I Herd That has gold, copper and hologram glitter in it. It looks much more warm and fall-esque than I’m Not Lion. This is three coats for full coverage.

Barry M Copper

So I still haven’t gotten around to posting all the polishes I picked up in Europe yet but out of all of them, this one is probably my favorite. Barry M Copper is a copper foil-y glitter flake like polish with flecks of copper, bronze, rose gold, and rustic orange that shift to a bright antique gold around the edges. It reminds me a lot of OPI Warm & Fozzie. I haven’t swatched them side by side but from the bottles they look fairly similar but aren’t dupes. Seriously though, I love this polish.

Wet n Wild Spoiled Cougar Attack & LA Girl Copper

20 October 2012 by , 2 Comments

I know I’ve posted on the polish before but it’s one of my all time favorite polishes for autumn. It’s pumpkin-y orange, shimmery and just screams fall. Plus it has perfect formula and application. This is three coats. Though you may be able to get away with just two and have enough coverage if they were thicker coats.

I also used LA Girls Copper for my first Halloween mani of the season. I realize it’s already the 20th of October so maybe I should have started the Halloween manis a few weeks earlier but better late than never, I always say. Thi is Wet n Wild Spoiled Cougar attack (three coats for full coverage) with accent fingers in LA Girls Copper. I used the haunted house and bats Bundle Monster for nail art.

I guess I better try to do Halloween manis daily from this point on since I got such a late start in the game.

Nicole by OPI Fall 2012 Target Exclusive Collection

5 September 2012 by , 172 Comments

This fall Nicole by OPI is releasing a collection of five brand new polishes, sold exclusively at Target. Let’s have a lookie loo shall we?
Mer-made For Each Other. A sparkly green-gold-turquoise-blue duochrome foil-y metallic. Originally, from the looks of the bottle, I thought this would be another Peridot dupe but it’s not. It’s the same idea and close in color, but not a dupe. This is probably my favorite of the collection despite the fact that we’ve seen a lot of these types of polishes lately and it’s not really so original anymore. This was three coats.

Just Busta Mauve. This color is interesting to say the least. I want to say that I like how it looks on me but I’m not really so sure that I think I can pull it off. Maybe it clashes with my skin tone too much? Meh. Anyways, It’s a red-brown tinted clear base filled with bronze, rose gold, copper, blue and purple fleck glitter. It’s a bit on the sheer side. As you can see, there’s VNL even after three coats. Despite that, this is a really pretty polish and it’s totally unique… I can’t think of any other polish that looks even remotely similar to this.

For The Gold Times Sake. A green tinged silver-gunmetal grey version of Just Busta Mauve. It’s filled with dark silver, olive, rose gold, gold and blue fleck glitter. Like Busta Move, this is also still somewhat sheer and shows VNL at three coats. I’m a huge fan of dark silver/gunmetal polishes and this one if pretty unique from the rest of my collection.

Iris My Case. A purple-brown base filled with lavender shimmer. I feel like we’ve seen this polish before, though off the top of my head I can’t figure out for the life of me which polish the reminds me of. I wanna say it’s an old school China glaze though.  One that I don’t own so I guess it really doesn’t matter if it has a dupe of not. This was three coats.

If The Blue Fits…. A dark navy blue base filled with duochrome fleck glitter that shifts from bright blue to purple to green. In the bottle you can see that there’s even a bit of yellow and red duochrome that show up but it’s not at all visible on the nail. I really like this one a lot. This is three coats.

These polishes are now available at exclusively at Target.

Elizabeth Arden Amsterdam Anise

21 July 2012 by , 1 Comment

Elizabeth Arden Amsterdam Anise is a bright copper-gold full of gold, orange and lime green shimmer. I found this about a year ago in a dusty for 2 bucks and snatched it right up. I’m not so sure how old this polish is… I know that Elizabeth Arden used to sell polish in department store and some years ago (how many I am not at all sure) and have since stopped. Too bad too cause I actually really like this polish. Though my guess is that the sale tag at Nordies would have read much more for this polish than it did at he dusty. Winner winner chicken dinner.

On a side note, I was gone all week in New York City…

…hence the lack of posts. And when I wasn’t in New York I was busy ripping my hair out in the DC airport because United Airways completely sucks ass. I don’t even want to begin to explain the torture they put me through but a word of advice, don’t ever fly United. The fun level experience is right on par with having a pap smear done by your boyfriend’s parent or staying in a cock roach infested hotel. Not like I’m speaking from experience… but I’m just saying.

Revlon Hot For Chocolate & Sinful All About You

28 November 2011 by , 16 Comments

The other day I saw some lady wearing a similar combo and it inspired me to try to recreate  a similar look. I used one coat of Revlon Hot For Chocolate for the base with one coat of Sinful All About you on top. I really like the dark base with the gold and copper-orange glitter on top… it reminds me of fall. And since I will most likely be wearing all holiday colors once December rolls around I figured I might as well get in a few last autumn-esque manis while I still can.

OPI The Muppets Holiday 2011 Collection: Part 2

10 November 2011 by , 222 Comments

Yesterday I shared with you the glitter half of the OPI Tht Muppets Holiday 2011 Collection and today I’ve got the second half for you, the shimmers! First up is Wocka Wocka!. It’s a cool-toned medium red with very fine and subtle shimmer that shifts from red to hot pink. This one’s pretty but it’s not very unique. The awesome thing about this polish though is that it’s a one coater and that my friends, makes this polish a winner… despite it’s un-originality.

Designer… De Better is a pale silver-gold-champagne foil polish with bits of copper foil thrown in the mix. Looking at this polish in the bottle, I honestly thought I would hate it but surprisingly I really like it. It’s really unique and in the sun it really sparkles and shines. Even though it’s not your typical holiday color, it’s really pretty and reminds me of bubbly sparkling champagne. This was two coats.

Warm & Fozzie. Oh. My. God. Are you guys seeing this?! Seriously, you need to click these photos to see them full size. This polish is such a beauty! Warm & Fozzie is a brown-bronze duochrome foil polish that color shifts and sparkles pink, cranberry red, bright gold, and even a hint of purple. I love this polish even more than I knew I would. If you pick up one single polish from the collection, let it be this. This was three coats.

Animal-istic is a warm, tomato red filled with duochrome shimmer that shifts between red, orange, and hot pink. This was two coats.

Meep-Meep-Meep is a pink toned medium red filled with the most gorgeous broken flake shimmer. These pictres make the polish appear to be a lot more pink than it is in real life. It’s more of a red very heavy on the pink tones with a tone of pink shimmer. The color and finish remind me a lot of OPI Love Is A Racket, only more pink. This polish is where I started to run into application issue with the collection. It was on the thick side yet it ran like crazy into my cuticles and became annoying as hell to clean up. This was two coats.

Pepe’s Purple Passion. It’s a dark raisin-plum-brown creme base filled with raspberry flecks. This is two coats. This is the polish I wanted to love most from the collection. In my pictures, it looks lovely but to put it lightly, this polish was a nightmare. The application was a pain in my ass and probably the worst from OPI I’ve ever used. It was incredibly thick yet it was watery enough to flood my cuticles. It also dragged like crazy. You’d almost have to wait for each coat to completely dry before applying the next to avoid dragging that caused bald spots and gross goopyness in some areas. And to top it all off, about 15 minutes after applying a thick layer of Seche Vite and having a super shiny, glossy finish, this polish decided to turn bumpy (from the fleck glitter?!, I have no clue!) and have a rubbery matte finish (kind of like the ORLY Plastix) which made it look like some soft of gross leather. I have no clue. I wanted to love this polish so bad and for photography purposes it behaved well enough for long enough, but I just can’t. Pretty color in the bottle and awesome idea… but no.

Which polishes form this collection did you pick up and which are your favorites?
