Glitter Gal Australia Nude

I’ve been lemming Glitter Gal polishes for FOREVER. They literally are just soooo, so gorgeous and they have some of the best hologram polishes out there on the market. I only wish they were easier to get here in the states (then I would own them all) but I was lucky enough that Glitter Gal sent me this polish a few months back to review. I’ve been so swamped that I have finally just now gotten around to reviewing it and it is GORGEOUS. It’s a somewhat sheer nude hologram. This here is three coats and you can still see my visible nail line in pictures but it’s really not obvious in real life. The holo particles are small and somewhat scattered. Seriously, I can’t even tell you how much I love this polish. It’s neutral and nude but a thousand times better cause it’s holo!! I wish that I could own every single polish by this brand. Is it bad that I want to go on vacation to Australia just so I can come home with like, 30 new polishes? If you haven;t tried Glitter Gal yet, I highly, highly recommend them. They sell on glittergal.com.au and retail for $17.95 USD for 15 ml and $11.95 for 10ml.

OPI Fall 2012 Germany Collection

1 September 2012 by , 3 Comments

Each fall OPI releases a country themed collection of 12 and this year said country is Germany. Hurra!

My Very First Knockwurst. An odd name indeed. A pale, beige-putty toned pink. It’s definitely pink but the sandy tone in it keeps it from being your typical girly pale pink creme à la Bubble Bath. Application is a bit streaky. This is three coats.

Don’t Talk Bach To Me. A mix somewhere in between avocado, spring green and mustard. I’m not really sure how to describe this color. It’s more green than yellow but it’s definitely an odd and unique mixture of the two. The hue reminds me a bit of OPI Who The Shrek Are You?, only not nearly as bright and pigmented, and DTBTM has small, peral like silver shimmer in it. This is three coats.

Suzi & The 7 Düsseldorfs. A warm, red toned purple filled with red and blue shimmer.Beware of brushstrokes. This is three coats.

Deutsche You Want Me Baby. One of my favorites from the collection!! It’s a bright, rich rusty orange filled with yellow, orange and red shimmer. This polish is super shimmery and metallic and just screams fall. This is two coats.

Don’t Pretzel My Buttons. A slightly yellow toned beige creme. It’s an off color of nude with my skin tone cause it’s not pink enough to work for mannequin hands and it’s not brown enough to be a BABB color and it’s not exactly sheer either… I like it I’m just not so sure it works well with my skin tone. This is three coats.

Every Month Is Oktoberfest. This is hands down my favorite from the collection. It’s a deep, slightly blue based purple chock full of red, bright fuchsia-pink, gold and purple shimmer. The way the hot pink and red shimmer in this polish light up in the sun is so pretty. I love it. This is going on my list of favorite vampys. This is three coats.

Berlin There Done That. A beige-putty toned light grey creme. This is three coats.

Schnapps Out Of It!. What is this color?? A rosey terracotta? I have no clue. Reminds me of clay that you would dig up from the earth. With small, subtle silver pearl-like shimmer. This is three coats though I probably could have gotten away with just two.

Nein! Nein! Nein! Ok Fine! According to Google Translate, Nein means “no”. Sooo… there you have it. This is a dark, slightly green tinted grey creme. This is three coats.

Danke-Shiny Red. A super shimmery metallic red. It’s slightly darker than what I would label as a true red but it’s pretty close. This is three coats.

Unf Or-Greta-Bly Blue. A medium-dark frosty blue with silver and teal shimmer. This is two coats.

German-icure By OPI. Another one of my favorites. It’s a dark and vampy brown-toned burgundy filled with tons of orange-red and even some gold shimmer. This is one of those lit from within looking polishes that’s so pretty and perfect for fall.

Essie Brooch The Subject

13 July 2012 by , No Comments

Essie Brooch The Subject is a slightly darkened and browned BABB (band aid but better) nude creme. I like it but I think it’s slightly too dark and brown for my skin tone and it almost makes me look dead… almost. The weather here in So Cal has sucked the past few days. It’s been in the high 70′s and low 80′s yet grey, dreary and even rainy at times so I haven’t been in the mood to wear bright or sparkly polishes. So until the weather shapes up I guess it’s boring cremes for a while.

On a side note, as you may or may not have noticed, I skipped the Friday Poll for today. I’m kind of over it and by the lack of responses I assume you guys are too… sooooo… idk. I may never do one again. Or I may. I’ not sure. If you have opinion feel free to state it. Otherwise the Friday Poll may be dunzo from here on out. Hip hip cheerio.

China Glaze Fast Track

Another Hunger Games Polish? Yup!! This is Fast Track. It’s a brown tinged nude creme filled with tiny, sparkly light yellow-golden flecks. It is hands down the most gorgeous nude I own. Without a doubt. You have to click these pictures to view them full size. This polish is amazing I tell you. Its so pretty and so unique… I don’t anything else like it in my collection. I swear I am going to be wearing this polish on my toesies all summer long. It’s awesome.

China Glaze Sydney Sand

21 March 2012 by , 53 Comments

I typically wear China Glaze Sydney Sand as a pedi color but I was curious to see what it looked like as a mani. It’s a slightly brown toned nude filled with small silver micro glitter that has a slight rainbow sparkle to it in the sun. The color and the name remind me of summer…. which is great considering yesterday was the first day of Spring. :)

OPI New York City Ballet Collection

15 March 2012 by , 24 Comments

Next month OPI is releasing a collection entitled New York City Ballet which contains six “SoftShades” polishes. Behold.

Don’t Touch My Tutu!. A sheer, milky off-white. Three coats.

Barre My Soul. A sheer, pink tinted nude. Three coats.

You Callin’ Me A Lyre? A sheer light pink. This one looks so soft and squishy. I love it. This was three coats.

Care To Danse? A sheer lilac. Three coats.

My Pointe Exactly. A sheer, light, blue-tinged medium gray. Three coats.

Pirouette My Whistle. The only non-sheer jelly in the collection. A slightly light grey tinted clear base filled with small light silver square glitter and large, dull light silver-white-ish hex glitter. I assume this was intended to use layered over the others in the collection but oh well… I used it on it’s own to provide you all some lovely shots of my atrocious stained nails. How kind of me, I know. This is my favorite polish in the collection. This was two coats.

All of these polishes, with the exception of Pirouette My Whistle are sheer, milky, jelly polishes. They aren’t highly pigmented and are meant to be soft and sheer. The colors do build with each layers but as you can see, I still have obvious VNL and I used three coats. If you so use more than three in order to get rid of VNL, the polish may or may not dry.

This collection will be available in April. Woo!

O Cupcake, Where Art Thou?

2 February 2012 by , 58 Comments

I’m not gonna lie, I’ve been completely uninspired lately when it comes to nail art. I was trying to do some cute Valentine’s Day manis for you guys before the holiday was over but for one, I’ve been completely drained the last few weeks and two, I don’t even like Valentine’s Day. I hardly liked it even when I did have a boyfriend. So please forgive me for the lack of holiday manis. My creativity for manis and nail art is in the gutter right now so I figured I would be boring and do cupcakes since I haven’t done them in quite some time. I’m pretty sick of cupcakes actually but I figure they’re holiday-esque and most of my readers like them (I assume based on feedback) so I went ahead and did them anyways. If you have questions about what I used to create design please feel free to ask and if you have any suggestions as to Valentine’s Day manis you’d like to see, make a comment and I’ll try my best. :)
