H&M Fantasy Ocean

6 September 2012 by , 6 Comments

So while I was in Europe I picked up a bottle or two… or ten… of nail polish, and in Spain I was happily surprised to find that their H&M’s still carry polish. Two lines of polish to be exact. And the US stores no longer even carry one line. What a load of bull. Anyways, this is one of the polishes I picked up during my trip on the other side of the pond, in España. Behold Fantasy Ocean. It’s a slightly frosty turquoise-teal filled with tiny gold shimmer. It’s not really unique by any standards but I still like it. And it’s from Spain. And H&M’s there sell polish. And mine doesn’t. And that upsets me.

P.S. If I’m wrong and you live in the US and your H&M sells polish (and I’m not talking about those shitty no-name piece of crap minis) please inform and correct me cause I’ve checked multiples locations in San Diego, LA and New York and no H&M I’ve walked into in any of said cities carry polish. What is going on in the world of H&M??! I’d like to know.

Nicole by OPI Fall 2012 Target Exclusive Collection

5 September 2012 by , 172 Comments

This fall Nicole by OPI is releasing a collection of five brand new polishes, sold exclusively at Target. Let’s have a lookie loo shall we?
Mer-made For Each Other. A sparkly green-gold-turquoise-blue duochrome foil-y metallic. Originally, from the looks of the bottle, I thought this would be another Peridot dupe but it’s not. It’s the same idea and close in color, but not a dupe. This is probably my favorite of the collection despite the fact that we’ve seen a lot of these types of polishes lately and it’s not really so original anymore. This was three coats.

Just Busta Mauve. This color is interesting to say the least. I want to say that I like how it looks on me but I’m not really so sure that I think I can pull it off. Maybe it clashes with my skin tone too much? Meh. Anyways, It’s a red-brown tinted clear base filled with bronze, rose gold, copper, blue and purple fleck glitter. It’s a bit on the sheer side. As you can see, there’s VNL even after three coats. Despite that, this is a really pretty polish and it’s totally unique… I can’t think of any other polish that looks even remotely similar to this.

For The Gold Times Sake. A green tinged silver-gunmetal grey version of Just Busta Mauve. It’s filled with dark silver, olive, rose gold, gold and blue fleck glitter. Like Busta Move, this is also still somewhat sheer and shows VNL at three coats. I’m a huge fan of dark silver/gunmetal polishes and this one if pretty unique from the rest of my collection.

Iris My Case. A purple-brown base filled with lavender shimmer. I feel like we’ve seen this polish before, though off the top of my head I can’t figure out for the life of me which polish the reminds me of. I wanna say it’s an old school China glaze though.  One that I don’t own so I guess it really doesn’t matter if it has a dupe of not. This was three coats.

If The Blue Fits…. A dark navy blue base filled with duochrome fleck glitter that shifts from bright blue to purple to green. In the bottle you can see that there’s even a bit of yellow and red duochrome that show up but it’s not at all visible on the nail. I really like this one a lot. This is three coats.

These polishes are now available at exclusively at Target.

OPI Fall 2012 Germany Collection

1 September 2012 by , 3 Comments

Each fall OPI releases a country themed collection of 12 and this year said country is Germany. Hurra!

My Very First Knockwurst. An odd name indeed. A pale, beige-putty toned pink. It’s definitely pink but the sandy tone in it keeps it from being your typical girly pale pink creme à la Bubble Bath. Application is a bit streaky. This is three coats.

Don’t Talk Bach To Me. A mix somewhere in between avocado, spring green and mustard. I’m not really sure how to describe this color. It’s more green than yellow but it’s definitely an odd and unique mixture of the two. The hue reminds me a bit of OPI Who The Shrek Are You?, only not nearly as bright and pigmented, and DTBTM has small, peral like silver shimmer in it. This is three coats.

Suzi & The 7 Düsseldorfs. A warm, red toned purple filled with red and blue shimmer.Beware of brushstrokes. This is three coats.

Deutsche You Want Me Baby. One of my favorites from the collection!! It’s a bright, rich rusty orange filled with yellow, orange and red shimmer. This polish is super shimmery and metallic and just screams fall. This is two coats.

Don’t Pretzel My Buttons. A slightly yellow toned beige creme. It’s an off color of nude with my skin tone cause it’s not pink enough to work for mannequin hands and it’s not brown enough to be a BABB color and it’s not exactly sheer either… I like it I’m just not so sure it works well with my skin tone. This is three coats.

Every Month Is Oktoberfest. This is hands down my favorite from the collection. It’s a deep, slightly blue based purple chock full of red, bright fuchsia-pink, gold and purple shimmer. The way the hot pink and red shimmer in this polish light up in the sun is so pretty. I love it. This is going on my list of favorite vampys. This is three coats.

Berlin There Done That. A beige-putty toned light grey creme. This is three coats.

Schnapps Out Of It!. What is this color?? A rosey terracotta? I have no clue. Reminds me of clay that you would dig up from the earth. With small, subtle silver pearl-like shimmer. This is three coats though I probably could have gotten away with just two.

Nein! Nein! Nein! Ok Fine! According to Google Translate, Nein means “no”. Sooo… there you have it. This is a dark, slightly green tinted grey creme. This is three coats.

Danke-Shiny Red. A super shimmery metallic red. It’s slightly darker than what I would label as a true red but it’s pretty close. This is three coats.

Unf Or-Greta-Bly Blue. A medium-dark frosty blue with silver and teal shimmer. This is two coats.

German-icure By OPI. Another one of my favorites. It’s a dark and vampy brown-toned burgundy filled with tons of orange-red and even some gold shimmer. This is one of those lit from within looking polishes that’s so pretty and perfect for fall.

London Calling

26 August 2012 by , 6 Comments

Hey guys! I’m finally back home in the States again. Before I left I didn’t have time to share my mani that I wore to London Towne for the Olympics so here are the post-holiday photos of my mani making it’s way around the city.

In front of Buckingham Palace, Big Ben, the Peter Pan statue in Kensington Gardens and Russell Square.
For the mani I used OPI Dazzled by Gold with Union Jack accent fingers. For the Union Jacks I used Orly Royal Navy, LA Girl Nail Art in White and China Glaze Ruby Pumps.

And a few of my favorites from the trip…

On Vacation!

2 August 2012 by , 4 Comments

In just a few hours I will be on my way across the pond over to London towne; the land of Peter Pan, The Beatles, Spice Girls, Yorkshire pudding, the Queen Mum, Big Ben, David Beckham, double decker red buses and who could forget, One Direction. Yes my friends, I will be MIA for 3 more weeks (or a tad more depending on how trashed I am from jet lag), on top of the intentional past week I’ve been MIA, while I am in the land of good manners attending the London 2012 Summer Olympics. While there I will be attending a men’s soccer *ahem*, futbol game, a women’s beach volleyball match as well as men’s and women’s marathons and cycling. I’ll also be hopping around England a bit as well as spending a few days in Paris and a week’s stay in Spain after the games are over. I’ll be back to regular postings by the end of the month but until then, feel free to add me on Facebook or follow me on Twitter to keep up with my updates as I travel on the other side of the pond. Until next time.

Cheerio!

Dare To Wear Strobe Light

2 August 2012 by , No Comments

So I realize I’ve been MIA the past week… sorry about that. I literally wore this many (one coat of Strobe light over the previous China Glaze It’s My Turn mani) for 5 days straight and then have had naked nails since I removed it. It wasn’t a pretty picture. Anyways, I’ve been super busy the past week working every single day, finishing planning my trip to Europe (that I leave for in about an hour and a half), packing and everything in between. So sorry for the absence and the notice that I will be absent for quite a while longer… which leads me to the next post….

China Glaze It’s My Turn

25 July 2012 by , 1 Comment

Is anyone else out there freakin stoaked that the London 2012 Summer Olympics start TOMORROW?!?! You have no idea. I am obsessed with the summer Olympics. Four years ago when the Olympics were going on in Beijing I was literally glued to my television for two weeks straight. I didn’t leave my house. And my friends were convinced that I had fallen off the face of the planet and died. Obsessed I tell you. This year I am even more obsessed than I was last time around because my favorite city in the entire world (which I have been dreaming of going to for forever) is hosting the games… and I get to go!!! And I’m so freakin excited!!
Anyways, Since the Opening Ceremony for the Games is tomorrow I thought I would wear gold and since the sun is shining, It’s My Turn seemed like the perfect polish.

I’m still trying to figure out what polish or nail art to wear to the Games so if anyone wants to share ideas or what nail art you’ll be wearing during the Olympics… please feel free. =]
