Last weekend I walked into Wallgreens and saw a huge sign advertising Sinful nail polish 2/$1. At that price, I just knew I had to grab a handful of them!.. there’s not much better than pretty polish for 50 cents! Sinful Cloud 9 was one of the polishes I picked up. It’s a warm and bright orange with really pretty gold shimmer. This polish makes me feel like it’s summer. Today it’s going to be over 85 degrees here in LA so this polish is perfect for this kind of weather!! The application on this was pretty good. this was four coats, I probably could have done three but since I was painting at night I wanted to make sure that the dark lighting wouldn’t be covering up VNL that would clearly be there in the morning with normal lighting.. so I did four coats just to be safe. Even with four coats, there was no dragging or pulling during the application and dry time was decent. I added Konad on top with China Glaze Millennium… I was hoping to use a more golden color for Konad that match the warm gold shimmer in Cloud 9 but I have yet to find a warm opaque gold that stemps well. If you know of one, please let me know :0)
Have an amazing Saturday! I hope it’s gorgeous, hot, and sunny in your neck of the woods too!!
Just by chance, this is my 200th post (Yay for hitting another milestone!) and I’m sharing with you a polish that has a very fitting name for the occasion… OPI Rising Star from the 2010 Winter/Holiday Burlesque Collection. Swear I didn’t plan it to happen this way but hopefully it’s a sign that my blog will continue to grow and gain more followers. And a huge thank you to all my followers and readers who have either been with me since the first posting or have founds me along the way!
On to the polish.. OPI Rising Star is a very warm and orange-y gold/copper. This finish on this polish is a bit hard to describe.. it’s kind of like a small-particle glass fleck metallic in the sense of appearance but it also appears to be a bit like a foil as well. Whatever finish it is, this polish is super sparkly and metallic-y! It’s a super gorgeous polish and one of my faves from the Burlesque collection.
Happy President’s Day! I hope you all enjoy your day off work or school. For some reason my school decided to give us Friday off for the holiday instead of today but since I don’t even have Friday class this quarter, I don’t benefit at all sadly.
Anyways, today I’m sharing with you the Zoya Crystal from the Fall 2010 Fire & Ice Collection. Crystal is a light-medium blue jean foil chock-full of gold fleck foil glitter. This polish is so gorgeous and it sparkles like crazy in the sun. From what I’ve heard, Crystal is a dead on dupe for OPI Reflecting Pool which was released about two years ago as a UK exclusive. I don’t have Reflecting Pool to compare but I’ve wanted it ever since I first laid eyes on it so I’m so happy to finally own something just like it!
Hey all! I forgot to share this mani with you the other day. This is Essie Love, Beverly Hills xx which was a limited edition polish released for Valentine’s Day 2009. It originally retailed for $18 but I snagged this from the clearance section in ULTA this past summer for $2.99! Love, Beverly Hills xx a bright and glowy red with super pretty gold shimmer. The gold shimmer in here is, get this, real 24 karat gold. I’m not quite sure why Essie wanted to but 24 karat gold in a nail polish but they also put diamond dust in their Judith Ripka collection so who knows. the application on this was perfect! This was two coats and it applied very evenly without being streaky or runny (which is super important for a red polish not to run into your cuticles cause it creates a huge mess and stains. I despise runny reds.).
It’s Super Bowl Sunday ya’ll and I’ve got my black and gold on to root for the Pittsburgh Steelers!! I used Wet N Wild Black Creme for the base, China Glaze 2030 for the full image stamp from Bundle Monster plate 21, and then topped it off with one coat of China Glaze 5 Golden Rings.
Are you watching the Super Bowl, and if so, which team are you cheering for?
Three posts in a day! I’m on a roll! Either that or I don’t have a life.. one or the other. Anyways, we only have 11 days left until Christmas so I’m going to try to shove as much Christmas and holiday related stuff into this blog as I possibly can. Here is the mini collection that Color Club released this holiday season entitled Enchanted. The collection consists of Snowflakes, Magic Elf, Wish List Red, and Enchanted Holiday and also came with a sheet of cute little decals.
Snowflakes is a clear base chock-full of medium, small, and micro iridescent glitter. This polish was so thick and goopey I only needed one coat. If my nails weren’t so stained, I’d like this as is but since the orangeyness of my nails underneath is a distraction from how gorgeous this polish is, I think I’d prefer this polish layered over something.. a shimmery light blue, purple, or white maybe
Magic Elf is a bright shimmery foil lime green with a very strong yellow-gold duochrome flash. This isn’t your typical Christmas green which is kinda cool. I really like how foil-y this polish looks but it’s pretty sheer and took three coats. I think this would look really pretty layered over a dark green or black.
Wish List Red is a bright Chrsitmasy- red jelly packed with medium sized red glitter. This was opaque in two coats but it does need two thick coats of top coat in order to be smooth otherwise it just looks bumpy, gritty, and doesn’t sparkle to its full potential.
Enchanted Holiday is a clear base full of random shaped small and medium sized light gold glitter. I love the different sizes of glitter.. they give this polish a really nice feel. Again like ChG 5 Golden Rings, this gold feels really light and angelic to me.. so pretty for the holiday season. This was two coats and it came out fairly opaque, though 3 coats might have been better. Like Wish List Red, 2 coats of top coat would probably be better than 1 for a smooth finish.
Overall, I really like this set. I think Enchanted Holiday is my favorite followed by Snowflakes. Wish List Red is pretty but there’s so many other similar reds out there like ChG Ruby Pumps. As for Magic Elf, it’s pretty, just not my cup of tea. I bought this set from TransDesign.
