Glitter Bomb

30 April 2011 by , 48 Comments

Hey, everyone! Sorry for the late post. This morning I met up with a bunch of girls form the MUA Nail Board downtown in China Town to grab some dim sum for lunch. Since I was meeting with a bunch of nail polish girls I wanted to make sure that my nails looked extra nice today :0). I decided on using China glaze Sexagon as the base and doing a gradient mani using OPI Mad As A Hatter, Island Girl Aloha Heat, and Deborah Lippmann on top. My kind of glitter bomb!!

Have a happy Saturday!

Royal Wedding

28 April 2011 by , 22 Comments

Less than 24 hours until William and Kate say “I Do.” and I’ve got my mani ready for the occasion. This is OPI Alpine Snow topped with China Glaze White Cap and China Glaze Fairy Dust, Stamped with crowns from Bundle Monster plate BM08 in China Glaze Millennium, and topped with Orly Etolie. I wish pictures could show you how amazingly blingy and gorgeous in real life. I wanted a white background to match the bride’s dress and topped with with White Cap for gold shimmer and Fairy Dust for some silver and holo sparkle. And then I added Etolie which is a clear base with subtle and sparse rainbow shimmer glitter just for some extra bling, cause it’s the Royal Eedding and if any event deserves extra bling, it’s this one. If you click to enlarge the third picture you can see the holo glitter sparkle in the sun!!

Anyone else do a Royal Wedding themed mani? Anyone else gonna make two pots of coffee and wake up at 1 am to watch the whole sha-bang? I know I am!!!

OPI DS Extravagance

13 April 2011 by , 160 Comments

It’s starting to warm up here in So Cal and I felt a holo, especially an untried holo, was totally apropos to put on for the warm and sunny weather. This is OPI DS Extravagance from the Fall 2008 Designer Series collection. Extravagance is a warm, rich, red-toned purple holo. The holo in this polish reminds me most of the Milani holos. Like the Milani holos, Extravagance’s holo particles range in size from tiny, to medium to large (though I would say that in addition, the Milani holos have extra large and extra-extra large holo glitter as well) giving off a more chunky and sporadic holo look rather than small and linear like the Nfu Oh holos. I’m a fan of any sort of holo and I really adore Extravagance. It’s one of the very few dark and rich colored holos and I really love it! The application on this was pretty amazing too. Most holos require wait time between coats in order to keep the polish from dragging. Not so much the case with Extravagance. I didn’t have to wait at all between coats and the polish was so pigmented I only needed two coats for occupacity. If you’re a purple polish fan, a holo polish fan, or both.. pick this one up! It’s seriously gorgeous.

Happy Hump Day!

China Glaze Shooting Stars

11 April 2011 by , 128 Comments

I love Maybelline Blue Brilliance so much, I just wouldn’t take it off. So instead I added China Glaze Shooting Stars on top. Shooting Stars is from the 50 glitter Specialty Collection that was released in the Fall of 2009. Shooting Stars is one of my all time favorite polishes from that glitter collection and one of my favorite polishes to layer with.. it looks gorgeous on top of almost anything. Its a clear base with holo glitter, much like China Glaze Fairy Dust, yet in addition it’s got large hex glitter that’s iridescent. The large glitter hex pieces vary in colors of purple, pink, yellow, and green. So, so pretty and i love this layered look!

Color Club Sexy Siren

9 April 2011 by , 188 Comments

Color Club Sexy Siren from the Fall 2008 Glitter Vixen collection is polish with a clear base packed with medium blue glitter that sparkles holo in the sun. Now, when I saw packed.. well, I use the word loosely. In the bottle the glitter looks packed. On the nail, not so much. This was 5 or 6 coats. I stopped counting after 4 which is why I’m a bit hazy on the exact amount of coats I have on here. Bottom line, this was about 2-3 coats beyond my patience breaking point. Three coats I can deal with. Four, I start getting pretty irritated. Sexy Siren is shown here alone and you can still see visible nail line. Don’t get me wrong, this polish is gorgeous. I just think it would work best layered over another polish… that way you could get the same blue glitter holo effect with only needing to apply two coats of Sexy Siren. Oh, and I free-handed little flowers using OPI Alpine Snow and a dotting tool. :0)

Milani Hi-Res

25 March 2011 by , 358 Comments

Milani Hi-Hes is from last Spring’s 3D Holographic Collection. Hi-Res is a light-medium purple holo. The holo in this polish is pretty unique compared to other holo collections.. it’s got some pretty big and chunky pieces of holo in it but also some medium and small pieces.  Luckily, this polish dries pretty smooth even with the chunky pieces and the application is good. This was two coats.

Happy Friday!

OPI Day At The Peach

24 March 2011 by , 312 Comments

Two months ago I found four of the six polishes from the OPI Summer 2003 Summer For Shore collection. OPI Day At The Peach is the one I was most excited about but for some reason I completely forgot to wear it! OPI Day At The Peach is a dusty coral/orange/peach small particle holo. The holo is tiny, spread out, and on the less noticeable side. It’s still very noticeable in real life but compared to other holo polishes like Nfu Oh’s, the OPI Designer Series, and China Glaze’s OMG and Kaleidoscope collections the holo in this polish is much less over the top and noticeable. Click to enlarge the pictures if you want to see them in full size to see the gorgeous holo-y-ness better. I really love holo polishes and for $2 this baby is a jewel!
